Changes to the administration of Great Waldingfield Village Hall

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Jun 2026, the Trustees of Great Waldingfield Village Hall Charity agreed to close the Charity with effect from 30 Sep 2026.

It is important to note that the Village Hall will continue to operate as normal and you will not notice any change.

From 1 Oct 2026, the Village Hall (VH) will be operated directly by Great Waldingfield Parish Council (GWPC). Only the bank account details will change.

At the public AGM meeting the trustees and those present recognised that the VH and GWPC had a similar purpose; to support local people and provide support for the local community. The Charity had vacancies for Trustees and the additional regulations were not providing additional benefits to those already available to the Parish Council.

It is important to stress that the closure of the Charity is  being undertaken in line with Charity Commission guidelines. All assets held by the Charity including funds, will transfer to GWPC but will be restricted for use only in line with the original Charity deed.

Great Waldingfield Village Hall (VH) is available for hire by residents of Great Waldingfield, non-residents, organisations and businesses. A multifunctional, modern space for regular bookings, parties and community groups with Premises Licence authorising the following regulated entertainment and licensable activities:

• Performance of plays;
• Showing of films;
• Indoor sporting events;
• Performance of live music;
• Playing of recorded music; P
• erformance of dance / dancing;
• Making music; and
• Provision of hot food / drinks

The hall has a licence with the Performing Rights Society for the performance of copyright music.

Public Liability (PL) insurance for individuals hiring the hall is included in the hire charge. Organisations, groups, societies, associations and business users must have their own PL Insurance cover for at least £5 million.

Charges per hour are: £12 for village residents; £17 for non- residents; and £24 for business use.
