BRANCHLINES AND OLD SCHOOL WOOD
Working Party. Saturday April 19th. Meet 9.30am at the wood by the benches on the main track. I know this is Easter Saturday but I will not be able to lead it the week before or after this.
New volunteers welcome. Bring gloves. We supply tools and training if needed. 11am break for refreshments.
Hedge laying and coppicing has finished now that spring is here and the dormant season is over. We’ll be tidying up the paths and the forest school area. Fallen branches added to dead hedges, selective ‘weed’ removal, brambles cut back from paths, plastic tree shelter removal.
Update. Branchlines is the volunteer group that manages the community wood. The committee met recently to plan for the summer.
David Taylor was re-elected as chair, Faith Marsden as secretary, Phil Howlett as treasurer and Chris Francis as vice chair.
Our annual QUIZ will be held at the village hall on Saturday 14th June, 7pm. Don’t miss it!
We plan to hold a tea party for our regular supporters and volunteers in July.
Arrangements are being made for a public moth evening, probably in late June, when a local expert will show us what can be found in in the wood using moth traps.
The chalk bank is now likely to happen this summer when the ground is firm enough for the delivery vehicle.

ST LAWRENCE CHURCHYARD
Working Party. Saturday April 5th. Meet 9.30am in the churchyard. Bring a hot drink for 11am refreshment break. Gentle exercise in a beautiful setting to benefit visitors and wildlife. Tasks will depend on weather and turnout, but something to suit everyone.
There should be a good display of spring flowers, especially daffodils. We will have started mowing some of the grass in the lawn areas at the front of the church and the new graveyard. Some tidying up will be needed and you may see some updated signs.
Last month we finished applying wood chippings to the muddy path sections, did some strimming of early nettle growth and raked dead vegetation off the bank.
