Meet and Greet: Village groups have once again been asked to attend and show villagers how fantastic and vibrant Great Waldingfield is. Pete to man the events stall with photos of past events and a suggestion box for any events people would like to see in the village, a report has been emailed to the parish council clerk for publication on the website and at the meet and greet.
Brief Report: A good number of people attended the event, with the following groups: Bowls Club; Church; Community Larder; Craft and Chat; Speedwatch; Biodiversity; Scouts; Coffee Morning; Branchlines; Footpath / Tree warden; Parish Council; Events; County Councillor; District Councillors; and Horticultural Society
Thanks to all those who attended and had stalls, especially Philip Faircloth Mutton who changed his plans to be there, and to the ladies of the coffee morning for providing drinks and delicious food throughout.
It was good to see new villagers attend as they looked for societies etc to join and make friends at. It was suggested that the visitor number was down a bit due to only having one in September, but hopefully from here on will be an annual event around April / May.
Bank Account: The events team now have a bank account with Lloyds, so cash can be paid in at the post office or in town.
This will put us in charge of our own finances and take card payments for tickets etc.
Scarecrow Festival: This has been booked for Sept 7 and 8. Pete to order straw nearer the time and to make the scarecrows – organisations to clothe them accordingly – ie choirboy for the church, bowler for the bowls club etc.
Fete: Organisations on the estate have been advised of the marquee being dropped off and picked up – Pete to sleep in the marquee for security reasons. Another gazebo has been donated to the PC and will be used to house other stalls / first aid etc in case of bad weather. The band are playing 2 x 1 hr slots with music being provided in between by Pete. The Bowls club are to sell soft drinks in the marquee for the under 18 disco and open the bar for the fete and barn dance, however plastic glasses will be used for those going outside the clubhouse. Bacon rolls and hotdogs will be sold by the bowls club Saturday afternoon and evening.
Pete the finalise everything over the next couple of weeks and flood social media etc with adverts for the event. Sadly there will now be no service on the Sunday morning as Faith is doing a christening and her replacement is doing his normal service at Acton, so Sunday will just be the village picnic. Pete to speak to the parish council this week re finalising payments for the marquee etc. All houses on Greenacre have now received a letter re noise disturbance that weekend, and Pete to make enquiries re grass cutting.
Cheers
Pete
