Update. The frogspawn has hatched. 39 snakeshead fritillaries were counted on the old meadow. A second stag beetle pyramid has been built as a potential home for these rare insects. The David Hilditch memorial bench is now installed by the main pond. The pond surrounds have also been enhanced by repairs to the woven fence and clearance of invasive plants.
ST LAWRENCE CHURCHYARD
Working Party, Saturday May 9th
We would value your help with ongoing general maintenance. Meet 9.30am in the churchyard. All tools provided, no special skills needed, and we stop for a chat and refreshments at 11am. It’s good for your mental and physical health to be outdoors with nature.
A tree safety survey was done and a number of branches removed. Mowing has started and prohibited items are being removed.
Our church is in the ‘diocese’ (administrative area) of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. They have a website which includes information on churchyard management. I have submitted an annual report.
