Every four years there is an election to choose members of the Parish Council. This year eight residents from the village were nominated and as there are exactly that number of spaces on our Council, the election was uncontested.
The Annual Parish Council meeting took place on Monday 15th May when the Declarations of Acceptance were signed and the following residents will be making up your next Parish Council:
Gail Baxter, Pete Berry, Kerry Francis, David Harris, Christine Hutton, Clare Kiely, John Steele and Amy Ward.
Clare Kiely is the new Chair with Pete Berry acting as Vice Chair. Pete, Kerry Francis and Amy Ward were members of the previous Council which is ideal for continuity; John Steele and Clare have returned after a short break and Gail Baxter, David Harris and Christine Hutton are new to the job.
Obviously it will take us time to establish ourselves, but we are looking forward to continuing the good work begun by the previous Councillors. We’ll keep you updated via the village magazine and website as we make our plans. So watch this space!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous Council for all their hard work and commitment to the village over the last four years and especially mention Linda Rushton who has retired after an impressive nine years of service. Our current Parish Clerk, Sue Clements, is also retiring from the Council and those of us who worked with her before truly appreciated her dedication to her role and her willingness always to ‘go the extra mile’ to make sure that the Council ran smoothly. We do wish them all the best with their future plans.
The next PC meeting is on Monday 12th June at 7.30 in the village hall and everyone is welcome to attend.
