As you will be aware, the area of grass in front of Green Acre has been left unmowed. This is a trial run following discussions between the Biodiversity Group and Babergh District Council.
Last year, sadly the grass was cut and along with it the precious Bee Orchids that grow there.
This year we are hoping to identify and protect the orchids (6 have already been identified), allow the other wild flowers to grow but keep some paths through for easy access to and from the benches and the houses behind.
If this is successful we would hopefully look to include other areas in the village next year.
This will help increase the Biodiversity of our village and increase the numbers of wild flowers, bees, insects and butterflies that we see. Our wildlife needs our help!!
