April Walk. Sunday April 6th. Beating The Bounds part II: West. Meet 2pm at the village pub, The White Horse. We continue our journey around the parish boundary. We are using public rights of way to visit points on the boundaries with the adjacent parishes of Chilton, Acton, Lavenham, Brent Eleigh, Little Waldingfield, Edwardstone, Newton and Great Cornard. Who knew we had so many neighbours?
This section involves Chilton and Acton. Don’t forget to bring or collect a whippy branch of willow or birch to literally ‘beat the bounds’ as is the old tradition. About 7km/4miles.
Last month, seven of us beat the eastern bounds, visiting an ancient boundary pollard oak with views to Newton, Edwardstone and Little Waldingfield churches.
