Scouting Adventures – A Call for Heroes

In the heart of our village, the Acton & Waldingfield Scout Group has been a beacon of adventure and learning for our young Beaver and Cub Scouts. Every week, the laughter and excitement of boys and girls aged 6 to 10 can be heard as they gather for their term-time meetings. They’ve embarked on thrilling camps, hikes, and visits, each experience a thread in the vibrant tapestry of their childhood.

However, a shadow looms over our Scouts (aged 10.5-14), who’ve had to temporarily join forces with the Long Melford troop due to a shortage of leaders. But hope is not lost! We’re on a quest for valiant volunteers to guide these young explorers back to their home troop. With optimism as our compass, we foresee their return in the next year to eighteen months.

Our Beavers and Cubs are on a journey to greatness, earning badges and striving for the prestigious Chief Scouts Award. This journey is paved by the unwavering dedication of our leaders, who instill fun, adventure, and invaluable life skills into every activity.

We extend our gratitude to the Church, the Bowls & Social Club, and Branchlines for their support and involvement in our activities. Their contributions have been instrumental in enriching the experiences of our young scouts. It is through such community spirit and collaboration that we can offer our youth the best opportunities for growth and development.

As our group flourishes, we seek new heroes to join our fabulous leadership team and trustee board. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, your contribution can help us soar to new heights. If you’re ready to embark on this noble adventure, please reach out to

Together, we can ensure that Great Waldingfield continues to be a place where our youth can thrive.
